Tour de Cure

Sometimes we can have fun and do some good at the same time. Tour de Cure is one of those times.
Aaron and I will be riding in the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure fund-raising event in Brighton, Michigan, on Sunday (June 11). This is our 2nd year riding together. Last year we
combined to raise more than $2400 for a 7 mile ride; this year we will attempt a 15-mile ride. Aaron is 9 years old, but he can do it -- we've completed a 14-mile practice ride last weekend, and other than ending up with some soreness he made it through ok. Our fundraising goal is also higher. Aaron is very excited about the ride.
The Tour de Cure is a series of cycling events held in over 80 cities nationwide. Thousands of riders pedal in support of the Association's mission: to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
I am asking you to help by supporting my fund-raising efforts with a donation. Your tax-deductible gift will make a difference in the lives of the 18 million Americans who suffer from diabetes and the 20 million people in the United States with pre-diabetes. Any amount, great or small, helps in the fight against this deadly disease.

We went down to the courthouse Wednesday morning, and the judge issued the order: As of this day, which is also our second child's 18th birthday, our child shall be known as Ezra Stanley. A note from Youngstown... by request

Since starting this blog, blogger says I've created 138 entries.  Some are just pictures or quips, some are writings, and some probably have links that need to be replaced.  But in some way they were all original works.  Except, however, for this intro and a couple of the pictures to follow, this one is from Scott Williams, a young man from the Youngstown, Ohio, area.  Scott attended Bruce Springsteen shows in Auburn Hills  and  Cleveland , found my email address (along with btx and a few others), and sent this report. We Take Care of Our Own

A few days ago, an article appeared in the Hollywood Reporter. The headline read, "Bruce Springsteen's New Album Is His 'Angriest' Yet." Uh-oh. Bruce Springsteen is "liberal." When he goes off, self-described "conservatives" go wild. Laura Ingraham wrote a book called Shut Up & Sing: How Elites from Hollywood, Politics, and the UN are Subverting America. It was a best seller, even. I don't personally know anyone who actually read it, but that doesn't matter: When Bruce speaks out, there's inevitably a chorus of comments across the country: "Shut Up and Sing!"
